February 13, 2012 – International Condom Day
CHOICE—HIV/AIDS Initiative observed International Condom Day (ICD) a day before with Valentine’s to distribute free condoms in an innovative way to promote safer sex awareness.
The day witnessed attractive charts and poster on promotion of condom use in the streets and popular restaurants of McLeod Ganj, Dharamshala, India. During the entire day campaign people were amazed and many asked questions about the day. Youngster without hesitantly took condoms from our charts as a mark of support in front of public notice and encourage others about condom use.
Colorful flyers carrying strong messages such as ‘Weapons of Mass Protection’, ‘When on Bike Use Helmet and when on Bed Use Condom’ etc. were the focal attraction of the day.
The main aim of the day was to create awareness to the local Tibetan, Indian and domestic and international travellers about HIV prevention and promotion of correct and consistent Condom use. Mr. Tenzin Dondul (Project Co-ordinator-CHOICE) and Mr. Tenzin Ingsel (CHOICE supporter) circled the streets of McLeod Ganj while distributing condoms to people in market and explained the benefits and significance of condom use.
Approximately around 1000 condoms (Nirodh in hindi) were distributed to the people as planned for the 2012 International Condom Day. We affirm our campaign a success in confronting and delivering the message of day.
